Hershey Chocolate of Virginia opened in Augusta County in 1982 and now employs more than 1,000 residents. Celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2019, The Hershey Company is the leading chocolate producer in North America, and the Virginia facility is the company’s second-largest U.S. plant. In May of that same year, Hershey announced an investment of $104 million to expand production capacity at its Augusta County facility including 65 new jobs.

“The Shenandoah Valley has been an excellent place for Hershey to do business and be a part of the community for 38 years now,” said Jason Reiman, Senior Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer at The Hershey Company. “We are proud to continue to invest and grow in an area that gives our employees a great place to live and work.”

The following year in June of 2020, Hershey invested an additional $135 million, including a 90,000 square foot expansion and an additional 110 new jobs. “Augusta County and Virginia are critical to our company’s growth and ability to deliver iconic and beloved products to consumers around the world,” added Mr. Reiman.
